Graduation Details for Graduating Students

  • School-issued items/Outstanding fees: All seniors must return all district-owned items plus pay any outstanding fees in order to graduate. These things must be done at the latest by the Friday prior to graduation.
  • Arrival time: Graduates should assemble in the central gym by 6:15 p.m. Please be on time! Graduates will begin to line up at 6:45 to prepare for the opening procession.
  • Cap, Tassel, and Gown: Seniors are required to purchase their cap, tassel, and gown through Jostens. Jostens will be at school on Monday, Apr. 18 to distribute your cap, tassel, gown, and any other graduation items you ordered and purchased. Seniors, in order to pick up your graduation items, you must submit your Senior Survey at the same time. Once you receive your gown, remove it from the plastic shipping bag to allow the wrinkles to fade. Best to consider placing it on a hanger in a bathroom where the steam will help to remove the wrinkles. Do NOT iron the gown!
  • Attire: Seniors, you should “dress for success” since graduation is a very important event in your life! Attire for female students: skirts, dresses, dress slacks, dress shoes. Attire for male students: dark dress slacks, collared shirt with tie, dress shoes. Seniors are not to alter their cap and gown (no markings) – they are to be worn as issued. Seniors who have earned various graduation cords or achievement sashes, either at Butler or MVCTC, should wear them. Also, for safety reasons, seniors are asked not to throw their cap at the conclusion of the ceremony – please go outside and let it fly where it will not strike someone in the eye.
  • Handicapped seating: If you will need handicapped seating for a guest, you may contact Mrs. Kim Thaler at 937-415-6306 or for assistance.
  • Photos: Easterling Studios will be photographing each senior as your diploma folder is presented. You will receive a proof of your photo in the mail. If you wish to purchase photos, you can through Easterling Studios.
