Morton Student Honored for Exceptional Volunteer Service

Morton 8th-Grader Salma Albezreh

Salma Albezreh, a Morton Middle School eighth grader, is honored for her exemplary volunteer service.

She received a Certificate of Excellence from the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards and a President’s Volunteer Service Award.

The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards honors young people for outstanding volunteer services from all across America and the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation presents the President's Award.

Albezreh, along with Morton eighth grader Elania Burley, created a community service club for the school; MYSA (Morton Youth Service Organization.)

“These two girls have already led the group in many service activities this school year; including a homeless sock drive, holiday visits to a nursing home, caps for cancer, Veteran’s Day cards, park cleaning, and the Dayton Peach Walk,” Principal Shannon White said.
