Vandalia-Butler City Schools is hosting a special program tonight, Monday, Feb 12, for all parents and students. Crime Prevention Officer Holly Estepp of the Vandalia Police Department and Community Resource Officer Larry Lane of the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office will present a Social Media Parent and Student Awareness Program. The program will be held in the Butler Performing Arts Theatre and will begin at 6:30 p.m.
Parents and students will hear from both Estepp and Lane, along with Mike Hulbert, a detective for Vandalia Police Department and Julie Bruns, the juvenile chief prosecutor for Montgomery County. The program will cover topics such as sexting, cyberbullying, and inappropriate social media use. The session is to provide information and resources which are available for parents to help prevent their child from being involved in these types of situations. These topics have been significant issues with today’s adolescents, and we highly encourage parents to attend.
